Petition to preserve our creative home: Hangar 21
Petition to preserve Hangar 21 in Detmold as a place for encounters, culture and creativity
Since 2013, we have found our creative home in the hangar. Thanks to the space provided by the city as non-cash funding, we have been able to develop our work in a variety of ways and work in good conditions. Now this important basis is on the brink of collapse. Below you will find an article from the Lippische Zeitung.
We need your support to keep this great place!

Hangar 21 is not only important to us: for years, Hangar 21 has been a lively and indispensable place for art, culture and encounters in Detmold. People from all generations and backgrounds come together here to experience art, get creative and take part in joint projects.
This space is more than just a venue - it connects people and enriches Detmold with innovative art projects that reflect the diversity of our society. From exhibitions and performances to workshops and creative education programmes: Hangar 21 is a place that makes culture accessible to everyone. In particular, the collaboration with initiatives and artists in the Hangar enables a lively exchange between generations and cultures.
Hangar 21 is a place where independent culture, socioculture and urban society have found a home. Not only Detmold residents meet here, but the hangar is also a centre of attraction for supra-regional symposia and artist residencies from all over Europe, for example. This combination of local commitment and international appeal makes the Hangar unique. It is firmly anchored in the neighbourhood and at the same time a cultural hub that has an impact far beyond the city limits.
We also see great potential to further expand the cultural programme at Hangar 21 and to develop new creative formats that appeal to even more people and encourage active participation. This space offers ideal conditions for strengthening cultural diversity in Detmold and providing new impetus.
